I want to hold your....

I just passed the cutest couple in the grocery store. They were about 80 years young and couldn't wait to both get to the cart so the while they were leaning on it they could hold hands. It made me smile and take my time getting into the store so I could watch them all the way in. They were so happy to find pudding on sale right inside the door. Simple pleasures

Who let the hippies in????

For Zack's birthday we got him a tie dye kit because he is always so excited to do a craft project with us. Well, last weekend was the designated weekend to create. His Mom and Dad were being river rats and so we became hippies.

Cute as a BUG

I have a very creative aunt. She hosted our "Family Fun Night". We all had a great time and enjoyed having a BBQ in her back yard. Soon it was time for our "craft". Don't worry, they are not hard things and we mostly just like to have an excuse to get together. However, it has been fun to have something to take home with us and keep reminding us of our FAMILY and things we have done together.

Painting got started and everyone (all of the girls & John) got involved. Brent and Greg and Bob were our cheering section. They had a good time watching and listening to all of us I guess. It was so much fun and very simple.

When we got home I put our bugs in the gardens and now everytime I come home I think of my Aunt Connie. She is a wonderful person and it is so much fun to stop and visit with her when I have a few extra minutes and am in her neighbor hood. Thanks for a fun FAMILY NIGHT!

Fur, Fur, Fur no more

This past week has been pretty hot. Bella seems to be over heating after being outside for just a short time so we had a hair brained idea to shave her hair off to help with the over heating issue. It was quite an event.

You see, under the guard hair that she has, she has a soft matted wool kind of hair. Human trimmers didn't like cutting that out. We finally had to go to the farm store and get animal clippers. Are they different you ask?

Well, I am not sure but I know that they seem to cut better and longer than the human clippers did. Anyhow, she got shaved. She was really good during the cut and even let us trim her more on Saturday when we noticed that there were still a few long hairs on her belly.

Because we are on another road trip. Our trip started out in Roy, UT. We headed South hoping to get to Salida, CO. Leaving early is a must so we can make our destination with time to eat.

Our first pit stop was in Price, UT. We hooked up with Quinten and Toby and enjoyed breakfast "Gramps Style". After our visit and a few laughs we hit the road for the most dreaded part of Utah. Highway 6 between Wellington and Green River. Ok technically, Green River is on I-70 but its far away. About 60 miles that feels like FOR EVER. As we pull into the gas station, Gramps volunteered to pump the gas. After a few failed temps to run the card machine, I got out to help him. He kept getting a declined/expired message. He couldn't understand how that could be until we looked at the front of his card. It expired in 2008. We fixed the card issue, got gas and hurried on to eat lunch.

Lunch break was in Grand Junction, CO. We stopped at Olive Garden: Easy access, good food and at least a two hour break:)

After lunch we headed south. Once we navigated our way through Montose we stopped at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. It was amazing and breath taking. We stood on one fin that went clear across the canyon and we took pictures of the other side of it. After a short walk around we headed down to the bottom of the river. After our short jaunt we decided to make way to Salida, CO. This is where we stayed. Prior to reaching our destination we passed Blue Mesa Lake & Monarch Pass. I will return to Blue Mesa Lake one day to camp and boat. It was beautiful.
