Turkey Shoot

What a great way to spend a weekend. We left on Friday afternoon to go up Left Hand Fork Canyon. We stopped in Brigham to drop Elliot off so he could bring Lena and Megan up to camp with Auntie Mandy & Uncle John. If you have never camped in November before let me tell you it can be cold. In order to be prepared I had packed "everything" you could need. As we left Brigham we decided we needed to stop in Hyrum for a few extras. At the store we met up with Gene. He was planning on spending the weekend with us... he just wasn't sure he was "camping" in November. We bought our groceries and started up the canyon. When we got to the forest service gate it was locked. We scratched our heads and I started to walk up the road to see if I could find any other campers. After getting the details we headed in and set up camp. The temperature was great at 4:00pm then by 4:30pm the sun was behind the mountain and it was getting dark. We sat around the fire for what felt like forever. After dinner we visited and made music and merry around the fire. We saw an amazing falling star show. It was better than anything on TV. We were all getting tiered and decided it may be time for bed....7:30pm. WOW how time stands still when all you have is fire light. So we all turned in by 9:00pm so we could be warm by the fire. The girls loved having a fire in the tipi. It was nice and toasty and we went to bed. By 6:00am the next morning we were freezing. We started a nice fire and enjoyed playing with the dogs. When we got up to make breakfast, everything was frozen. After breakfast we played phaze 10, walked the dogs, visited with our friends and rested. We got our potluck dishes ready for the Thanksgiving Dinner. It was a lot of fun to visit with our friends and enjoy some time in the great out doors. After dinner we went across the street and shot black powder rifles. Grandpa Gene won a turkey. Guess where we are going for Turkey Day???

  1. Looks like you had a great time on Sat. All the kids ended up coming out to help me get some things done before winter, so I thought it would be rude of me to leave ! Hearing about how cold it was I'm glad we didn't come up there ! On the email you sent me it say's blogsport instead of blogspot so you may want to let others know the correct spelling. See you soon !
